"This is a dish my brother prepared for me in Seattle. It is by far the best salmon I've ever eaten. I like to serve with an Asian inspired rice and roasted asparagus."

DIRECTIONS
Soak the cedar planks for at least 1 hour in warm water. Soak longer if you have time.
In a shallow dish, stir together the vegetable oil, rice vinegar, sesame oil, soy sauce, green onions, ginger, and garlic. Place the salmon fillets in the marinade and turn to coat. Cover and marinate for at least 15 minutes, or up to one hour.
Preheat an outdoor grill for medium heat. Place the planks on the grate. The boards are ready when they start to smoke and crackle just a little.
Place the salmon fillets onto the planks and discard the marinade. Cover, and grill for about 20 minutes. Fish is done when you can flake it with a fork. It will continue to cook after you remove it from the grill.

There is nothing better in Seattle than cedar planked salmon - unless it is Copper River Cedar planked Salmon. I usually just use olive oil, salt, pepper and dill and people who've never experienced planked fish can't get over the "fabulous" seasoning. Do soak the planks as long as you can 4 to 24 hours - mine always catch on fire. Makes for a spectacular presentation though...

Outstanding recipe! I ended up doing in the oven at 350 due to heavy rain. It was still delicious. I highly recommend making this. Thanks for sharing.

I just made this last night and it was absolutely fantastic! I didn't have green onions so I used minced red onion. My in-laws were so impressed they wanted to have a plank to take home! Costco has them for $8 for a package of 6. The package on the plank states that if it's not too charred you can use is again after cleaning with warm water and letting it air dry. Also, to save time, planks can be presoaked and frozen. I can't encourage you enough to try this incredible recipe! Thank you for the post.

This was absolutely delicious. I marinated the salmon for 3 hours. I made it exactly as the recipe stated. I paired it with a wild green salad with balsamic vinegarette dressing and a mushroom risoto. I served a white "citrusy" (not "sweet")wine. If I could remember what the name of the wine was I would include it, unfortunately I can't remember. :( This dinner was so well received that there was a very little table talk! :) Everyone was stuffing their face and didn't want to take the time to talk. I know they say you can reuse cedar planks but I have not yet been able to do that as mine always catch on fire...even after soaking them overnight!!

This is so darn easy, and so darn good. My picky 17 year old daughter BEGS for me to make this again. The flavor is quite simply amazing. The first time we made it on a charcoal grill, and tonight we are making it on the gas grill - can't wait!!

this was much better than the salmon we usually grill. we normally use the same spices, but the cedar planks really make the difference. we love this with broccoli, carrots, safron rice, and a nice white wine.
